Programs
Traditional Match – A caring, adult volunteer is matched with a child. Children 6-16 who can benefit from having a mentor in their life spend 2-4 hours a week together with a Big Brother or Sister or Big Couple. A Caseworker will match a child with a volunteer with similar interests and with the right skills to ensure a great match. Priority is given to children from a single parent family.
In School Mentoring – A caring adult volunteer or high school co-op student is matched with a child in the school for 1 hour a week (not academic). The goal is to help the child feel comfortable at school, to connect with the school community and help the child reach his/her full potential.
Sandparents - Reading Buddies – This literacy focused program matches a senior volunteer with a child (3-7 yrs) to spend 1 hour a week together in daycare centres and elementary schools.
Kids, Cops and Communities – OPP volunteers are strong, healthy role models that interact with our children out of uniform and in a relaxed environment e.g. hiking, bowling, winter sports
Homework Club – Once a week high school volunteers work with children helping with homework. A healthy snack is provided and a positive environment helps children understand that homework can be an achievable task.
Activities & Events – BBBS hosts activities and events for Bigs, Littles and Littles on the wait list. Staff and volunteers supervise.
Camp for Kids – Children in the Traditional program are offered the opportunity to attend camp for 1 week during the summer.
Big Bunch – (Group Mentoring) A group of 5-10 girls or boys with 2-3 Adult Mentors gets together for a variety of age appropriate activities.
180º Kids Group – An after school program offered at elementary schools throughout the Georgian Triangle. Adult and high school volunteers, with staff, mentor groups of 15 youth.
Leadership Training – Staff provide leadership training to interested high school students including a practical component as a mentor in the 180º Kids Group.

Dare to be a Kid Again — Volunteer Today: There are lots of kids waiting to show you how to recapture a little fun in your life. The staff at Big Brothers Big Sisters will find the mentor relationship that works for you. We pride ourselves on having the best volunteers around. Our volunteers come with different skills and backgrounds but they all share a desire to make a difference in a life of a child.

Mentoring is about the power of friendship!
The volunteers and young people in our programs experience the magic of everyday moments when they are shared with a friend.
Everyone needs someone to laugh with, share a dream with, and just hang out... with friends it's the little things that mean the most.
